International conference entitled “Traditional Values and Politics” in Slovakia
International conference entitled “Traditional Values and Politics” took place on the 12th of December 2017 at the conference hall of the hotel NH Bratislava Gate One in Bratislava. The conference jointly organised by “Pan-European Centre for Political and Economic Analysis and Prognosis” (PANAP – Alliance for Peace Defense) and “Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe” (FAAE) opened the Co-President of “PANAP – Alliance for Peace Defense” and the President of FAAE Dr. Ashot Grigoryan, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Youth and Sport of the National Council of Slovakia Lubomir Petrak and the Vice Chair of the Economic Committee of the National Council of Slovakia Maros Kondrot.
Prominent politicians, representatives of diplomatic corps and experts from a number of European countries were invited to the high-level conference. Reports were made by the Co-Chair of “PANAP – Alliance for Peace Defense” and former Prime Minister of Slovakia Jan Carnogursky, Austrian writer, journalist and translator Herbert Maurer, rector of the Academy of the Diplomatic Academy of Czechia, former Vice Prime Minister and Minister of
Foreign Affairs of Czechia Cyril Svoboda, German journalist, political scientist and publicist Alexander Rahr, Director of Middle East and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Jan Bori, Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Slovakia H. E. Maria Louisa Marinakis, former Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Slovakia Stefan Harabin, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Pavol Demes and others.
A number of acute problems Europe faces nowadays were discussed during the conference, such as the backoff of Christianity and the alarming trends of spreading of Islam in Europe, the continuous migration flows from the Middle East, Africa and Asia to Europe, as well as the issues of cooperation between Western and Eastern Europe. The speakers also touched upon the problem of destruction of traditional values, as one of the key challenges the humanity confronts nowadays. The negative consequences of globalization on the contemporary western civilization, that is, vicious, destructive tendencies of popularization and intrusion of consumer psychology and behavior on humanity were also voiced during the conference.
The organisers and participants of the conference agreed to continue the dialogue based on this political and social platform within the framework of international symposium in April 2018.
